South Australia is rolling out a mobile phone ban in public high schools that has shown significant improvements in student behaviour and wellbeing since 2023. The policy forms part of broader efforts to support learning environments through local services and government decisions.
The mobile phone ban applies across public high schools and has delivered measurable gains in behaviour and wellbeing. Education authorities have tracked these outcomes since the rollout began in 2023, linking the measure directly to classroom conditions and student focus.
A new $61.1 million preschool and primary school is being built on a 5.5-hectare site in Mount Barker to create hundreds of additional enrolment places. Construction has also begun on a new $155.3 million high school in Eyre for 1,300 students, with the campus scheduled to open in 2028. These projects address capacity needs in specific locations through state-funded building programs.
The University of Adelaide is launching new training to boost disability and inclusion studies in teaching degrees to better support neurodivergent learners. The program updates course content so future teachers gain targeted skills for classroom inclusion.
Applications for South Australia’s technical colleges are now open for 2027, offering high school students fast-tracked pathways into in-demand careers. The colleges provide structured options that connect secondary education directly to vocational training.
These measures reflect ongoing decisions by state education services to adjust policies, expand facilities and update training content. Families can check eligibility and timelines through the Department for Education channels listed on education.sa.gov.au. Construction progress and enrolment processes will continue to be managed through the same state offices.
