Adelaide Council Election 2027: April Voting Date Confirmed

The City of Adelaide has pushed back voting in the 2026 council election to April next year, with the close of polling now set for 7 April 2027, according to the council’s website.

The delay, announced on the council’s official site, extends the originally scheduled election timeline by roughly nine months. The council has published a dedicated election hub with new dates, key information and a so-called election navigator designed to help ratepayers understand their entitlements.

Festivals, markets and Christmas countdown

Adelaide’s summer event calendar is stacked. The SALA Festival, which showcases local visual art, runs from 1 August to 31 August this year. Later in the year, the Ebenezer Night Markets will return, running from 5 December through to 20 March 2027.

The council’s website is already counting down to Christmas, urging residents to “explore the city this Christmas” and promising a series of seasonal events across the CBD and North Adelaide.

Plastic Free July, library services and park lands

For the rest of July, the council is promoting Plastic Free July, a campaign aimed at reducing single-use plastic waste at home, at work and across the city. The council’s site encourages residents to join the initiative.

The City of Adelaide operates three public libraries across the city and North Adelaide, offering a range of services, facilities and events. Community centres also remain active, described by the council as “friendly, accessible places” that run programs, workshops, services and events designed to foster relationships across different groups.

The Adelaide Park Lands, the green belt that wraps around the city core, cover 7.6 million square metres. The council says there are more than 29 parks and six city squares within that space, each with varying features and facilities.

Practical tools and road closures

The council also offers a suite of practical online tools, including a bin day checker, a service for paying or reviewing parking expiations, and an interactive parking map. For anyone heading into the city, the council advises checking its list of current and scheduled road closures before travelling.
