T2D Project Adelaide: $850M Western Suburbs Upgrade

The River Torrens to Darlington project will create a continuous 78 km motorway without traffic lights between Gawler and Old Noarlunga. Designs have now been released for a major upgrade at a busy western suburbs intersection, to be delivered through an $850 million package under the same project.

The Department for Infrastructure and Transport states that its work aims to move the state forward by connecting communities and places. The T2D project is presented as the means to unlock Adelaide’s traffic network, while separate tram and freeway upgrades target safer and more reliable journeys.

Tram and freeway works already delivered

Tram grade separation projects have removed congested level crossings at Plympton, Morphettville and Glandore. These changes include new overpasses, open spaces and more accessible tram stops. South Eastern Freeway interchanges at Mount Barker and Verdun are also being upgraded to improve connectivity for the growing Adelaide Hills community.

New electric buses expand on-demand service

Six new electric buses have arrived in the Adelaide Hills. The vehicles fully electrify Mount Barker’s Keoride on-demand fleet and increase capacity for local passengers. The department highlights this addition alongside its other active projects.
