Bookings for Adelaide neighbourhood tours have risen sharply this month, with operators noting consistent demand for walks that focus on local streets and venues rather than distant attractions.

The pattern reflects cooler July weather that pushes people toward structured outings instead of solo wandering, especially as Illuminate Adelaide installations remain on display through the end of the month.

One route departs from Victoria Square each Saturday morning and passes through laneways before reaching the Adelaide Festival Centre. A second option, run by the city council, leaves from the corner of North Terrace and heads into the Botanic Garden before finishing at the National Wine Centre.

Food stops on Gouger Street

Several tours now include scheduled pauses at eateries along Gouger Street and inside the Central Market. Groups sample small plates at two or three stops before returning to the starting point two hours later.

Adult tickets cost $55 and include the tastings. Council figures show 1,150 people joined these sessions during June, with Saturday slots filling first.
