Cycling in Adelaide: Paths, the Linear Park Trail and Hills Rides
Adelaide has one of Australia's most developed urban cycling networks, with the River Torrens Linear Park Trail being the flagship route. The Linear Park Trail runs approximately 35 kilometres from the coast at Glenelg through the CBD and northeast to the foothills, following the Torrens River corridor and passing through several major parks. The city's flat CBD grid and inner suburbs are highly bikeable, with dedicated lanes on several main roads and the city's O-Bahn busway corridor has separated cycling infrastructure. The Port River Greenway provides an industrial-scenic route to Port Adelaide. For more challenging riding, the Adelaide Hills offer a range of ascent routes popular with road cyclists, with the Norton Summit and Greenhill Road climbs well-known. Adelaide's BikeDirect Scheme provides hire bikes and e-bikes. The Cycling SA website publishes trail maps and routes.
