School-Level Policy Shifts and Testing Adjustments

A mobile phone ban at public high schools, introduced in 2023, has continued to support improvements in student behavior and wellbeing. Separately, more than 85,900 South Australian students started online NAPLAN tests two months earlier than in previous years, though recent delays have introduced uncertainty for some participants. These measures reflect ongoing efforts to refine classroom environments and assessment timing.

Funding Measures and Program Trials

The SA Government has allocated $2 million toward teaching scholarships aimed at increasing women in STEM teaching roles and male primary school teachers. An additional $18.5 million supports cost-of-living measures that include $100 discounts on school materials and expanded breakfast programs. Over four years, $4 million is directed to community language schools, while up to 250 preschool teachers are scheduled to trial the Early Years Assessment and Learning Tool in Term 3 2025.
