HelixNet, a local Adelaide tech startup, launched a groundbreaking hybrid broadband service this week combining fibre optics with 5G wireless technology, aimed at delivering speeds of up to 10Gbps to Adelaide residents and enterprises.

The innovation comes as demand for ultra-fast, reliable internet soars in South Australia’s capital, driven by expanding remote work setups and the city's growing tech sector. Meeting Adelaide’s Growing Connectivity Demands

Recent data from the South Australian Government shows internet usage in Adelaide increased by 37% over the last two years, with peak period download speeds sometimes dropping below 50Mbps in parts of the CBD and inner suburbs. According to the company’s roadmap, HelixNet aims to double geographic coverage in Adelaide by mid-2027 and extend its technology to surrounding regional areas, including Mount Barker.
