Community Events Calendar

The City of Adelaide released its July community events calendar on Friday, listing 28 activities that run from now through 31 July across eight suburbs.

Winter school holidays begin next Monday, 13 July, and many families are already looking for low-cost outings that do not require long travel or advance bookings.

Venues and programs

Sessions will be held at the Adelaide Botanic Garden on North Terrace, where staff have added three new nature walks for children, and at the Thebarton Community Centre on South Road, which is hosting weekly craft mornings for seniors. Other stops include Victoria Square and the parklands adjacent to Adelaide Oval.

Free guided tours of the State Library on Kintore Avenue start at 10 am each Saturday, while the Adelaide City Library on Rundle Mall offers drop-in coding clubs every Tuesday afternoon.

Numbers and costs

City records show 12,450 people attended similar events last July, with the largest turnout at the Illuminate Adelaide light installations. Most listings this month carry no charge, though three workshops at the Thebarton centre cost $8 for materials. All dates and times appear on the council website and printed flyers available at libraries from Monday.

Organisers advise checking the calendar each Friday for any weather-related changes and suggest arriving 15 minutes early for sessions that require registration.
