Dog-Friendly Adelaide: Parks, Beaches and Off-Leash Areas

Adelaide is well-served for dog owners, with a good distribution of off-leash parks, dog-friendly beach sections and outdoor cafes across the metropolitan area. The Adelaide Parklands, the green belt surrounding the CBD, have designated off-leash areas within specific sections at specified times. Glenelg Beach and several southern beaches have off-leash sections at low-traffic hours, typically early morning and evening. Park 26 (Elder Park) by the Torrens near the Festival Centre has a popular dog-walking community. Major off-leash parks exist at Hallett Cove Conservation Park in the south and at various reserves in the northern suburbs. The City of Adelaide and surrounding councils publish current off-leash designations and hours on their websites; rules vary by council and checking before visiting is worthwhile. Many cafes on Rundle Street, O'Connell Street North Adelaide and Unley Road have outdoor seating welcoming leashed dogs.
